Veterinary Oncology

ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospitals offers medical oncology services at our ACCESS – Pasadena (Dept. of Oncology).

Medical oncologists are diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine who have completed a one-year internship and three-year medical oncology residency after veterinary school and have met the College’s rigorous education, publication, and examination requirements.

The role of the medical oncologist is to educate clients on their dog or cats’ cancer, perform diagnostic staging tests, guide treatment for the patient, and monitor response to therapy and for any potential side effects.

Medical oncologists have specialized training in palliative care, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy and can facilitate referral to board certified surgeons or radiation oncologists when indicated for the care of their patient.

Our goal is to balance treatment of cancer with maintenance of the best quality of life possible for your pet, without sacrificing quality for quantity. Our empathetic team focuses on treating you and your loved ones with compassion, helping make this difficult journey a bit easier.
