Kailyn McKibben, DVM

ACCESS – Los Angeles

Dr. Kailyn (E.B.) McKibben grew up here in Southern California, attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for undergraduate as a pre-vet, where she fell in love with wildlife and exotic animals.

She graduated from the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. Following veterinary school, she completed a small animal rotating internship at VCA Emergency Animal and Referral Hospital in San Diego. She then moved across the country to Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine for an exotics, wildlife, and zoological specialty internship. After surviving winter in New York, she returned home to sunny California and joined the Exotics Urgent Care department at ACCESS – Los Angeles.

E.B. has always enjoyed the variety of emergency presentations in exotic species, with the thrill and challenge of working with such unique patients. She was drawn to ACCESS because the Urgent care department offers a much-needed service to avian and exotic pets who often require immediate medical attention, but owners have difficulty finding a clinic that can accommodate them. Dr. McKibben is excited to help as many patients and clients as she can in this role while pursuing further research in her career goal to become board specialized in wildlife medicine.

She plans to volunteer at local wildlife rehabilitation centers in her spare time while also enjoying her hobbies such as hiking, backpacking, surfing, baking, and spoiling her new puppy, a pit bull mix named Noodles.
