Juliana Figueiredo, MV, MS, DACVAA


Dr. Juliana Figueiredo grew up in Brazil where she received her veterinary degree in 2003 from the University of Brasilia.

Following graduation, she remained at the University where she practiced small animal medicine and anesthesia for one year as an associate veterinarian at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. In 2004, she moved to the United States to pursue her passion for anesthesia and joined the Anesthesiology residency program at The Ohio State University.

Following completion of her residency, Dr. Figueiredo became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia, and served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Georgia from 2007 to 2010. Following her tenure at the University of Georgia, Dr. Figueiredo served as an Associate Professor at St. Matthew’s University, followed by St. George’s University. During that time, she also held locum positions serving as an anesthesiologist at the University of Minnesota and the University of Florida.

Dr. Figueiredo has authored multiple scientific papers and contributed to textbook chapters in the field of veterinary anesthesiology. She has a passion for teaching the art and science of veterinary anesthesia and pain management to veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and veterinary students, in order to provide the highest level of patient care. In addition, she values the opportunity to guide veterinary technicians through the decision making process required for intelligent case management.

In her spare time, she enjoys cooking and hosting parties, traveling, and spending time with her husband and their two children, Lucas and Isabela.
