Jonathan Yashari, DVM

Dr. Jonathan Yashari was born and raised in Santa Monica. He obtained his Bachelor’s of Science degrees in Biology and Public Health at The George Washington University. During his undergraduate studies, he worked on a project targeted towards developing a vaccine that would eradicate human hookworm infections worldwide.

In pursuit of helping both animals and humans, he headed north to the Finger Lake’s region where he obtained a Master’s degree in Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University. His Master’s thesis focused on population medicine and helping dairy farmers predict Johne’s disease in their herds, which is also the suspected causative agent of Crohn’s disease in humans.

He then traveled to Fort Collins, Colorado and earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and Master’s in Public Health (MPH) at Colorado State University. It was during his veterinary school career where he found his passion for emergency and critical care.

Following graduation, he was fortunate to return back to sunny California and continue his love for emergency medicine by completing a rotating internship in medicine and surgery at VCA West Los Angeles.

Jonathan’s interests include trauma management, shock, and infectious diseases. He loves treating a variety of species including small mammals and birds. He currently resides in Santa Monica with his pack of Labradors, Cooper and Mowgli. When not working, Jonathan enjoys spending time by the ocean, camping, hiking, traveling, and soaking up the SoCal food scene.
