Emily Chapel, DVM, MS, DACVIM (Cardiology)
ACCESS – LOS ANGELES
Dr. Emily Chapel is originally from rural Michigan and attended Michigan State University, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelors degree in Veterinary Technology. She worked in the MSU teaching hospital and taught in the veterinary technology program for three years before pursuing her veterinary degree. It was around that time that she first met her greatest supporter and now husband, Dr. Laurent Guiot, a board-certified surgeon in the ACCESS Bone & Joint Center.
After graduating at the top of her class in 2013, Emily completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at The Ohio State University. She stayed on for a three-year residency in Cardiology and completed a Masters degree in veterinary science with a research focus that was on canine mitral valve disease.
Clinically, Emily enjoys diagnosing and managing congenital heart diseases, managing arrhythmias, and working closely with both the pet’s family and primary care veterinarians to optimize therapy and improve outcomes.
Outside of the hospital, Emily loves baking, hiking, running, and spending time with Laurent and their pets Atis (a dog who she diagnosed and treated for a congenital heart defect called pulmonary valve stenosis) and Remy (cat).
