Danielle Sawyer, DVM (practice limited to emergency and critical care)
ACCESS – South Bay
Danielle’s energy, determination, and adaptability help her excel in practice and in life.
Raised in an Air Force family traveling from Japan to Belgium to the US, and growing up with small animals and exotics, instilled in Danielle a deep respect and care for all living beings no matter where she was.
As a Michigan State Spartan, Danielle completed a BS in Zoology with a concentration in Animal Behavior and Neuroscience. Electing to attend an offshore veterinary school in the Caribbean, Danielle earned her DVM degree as a Rossie in 2011. She developed her love of emergency and critical care in an internship at Animal Specialty Group in LA, followed by two years as an overnight emergency veterinarian in Thousand Oaks, CA prior to starting at ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospitals in 2014.
Danielle completed a three year residency in emergency and critical care at ACCESS in Culver City and is now happy to bring her knowledge and enthusiasm to the team in the South Bay. Although she loves everything about emergency and critical care, she especially enjoys trauma cases, endocrine emergencies and the client education portion of her job.
From her collegiate varsity swimming years, Danielle continues to enjoy swimming and coaching in her spare time. She also dabbles in finance and enjoys a good gym work out. Perhaps one of her favorite things to do, however, is go on walks by the beach with her baby girl in her arms, her Caribbean dog at her side and her Kittitian cat following behind.
