Courtney Smith, DVM, MS, DACVIM (Cardiology)

Dr. Courtney Smith grew up in Portland, Oregon and graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in Cellular Biology. Following her passion for animals, she then went on to graduate from the Oregon State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011.
Following graduation from veterinary school, Courtney completed a one year rotating internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego followed by a three-year residency in cardiology at Oregon State University. In 2016, she successfully completed all requirements of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and became a board-certified cardiologist as well as completed a Master’s degree in veterinary science. Her research focus was in congenital heart disease in French and English bulldogs called valvular pulmonic stenosis and minimally invasive treatment options.
Courtney enjoys managing congenital and acquired heart disease in all animals as well as developing close bonds with her patients and their families. When she is not working, Courtney enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors with her husband and her three children, as well as their four-legged family members— a French bulldog who was diagnosed and treated for pulmonic stenosis and two Sphynx cats.
