Cheryl Yashar, DVM

ACCESS – LOS ANGELES

Dr. Cheryl Yashar was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She attended UCLA for undergraduate school, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology. Aiming to become an avian and exotics veterinarian, she then moved to Northern California to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating, Cheryl was excited to move back home to Los Angeles to complete a small animal rotating internship at VCA Animal Specialty & Emergency Center.

Cheryl has also participated in captive breeding and reintroduction efforts for endangered macaws in Costa Rica. Additionally, during her time as a student, she contributed to the medical care of animals at the Sacramento Zoo as well as exotic pets and wildlife seen at the University of Queensland in Australia.

Cheryl enjoys providing care for the diverse range of animals that we see in the Avian & Exotics department at ACCESS – Los Angeles. She is dedicated to collaborating with owners of these incredible animals to provide high-quality care tailored to the unique needs of each patient.

Cheryl has three cockatiels as part of her family: Charlie, Coconut, and Lychee. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her birds, cooking, gardening, traveling to wildlife-rich areas, and snorkeling.
