Cassandra Powell, DVM, DACVECC

Dr. Cassandra Powell grew up in Minneapolis, MN. She then moved to the East Coast for her Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania.
Following graduation she spent a few years on the West Coast, and then moved back to Minnesota for veterinary school. She received her DVM degree from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2007.
Following veterinary school, she completed a rotating internship at California Animal Hospital in Los Angeles.
Dr. Powell remained in Southern California to practice emergency medicine for a year and to complete a three-year residency in Emergency and Critical Care beginning at Advanced Critical Care and Internal Medicine and finishing at VCA All Care Animal Referral Center.
Dr. Powell became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (ACVECC) in 2012. She spent the last 7 years in Oregon practicing at a large multi-specialty hospital, but then decided to move back to sunny California.
Her professional interests include fluid therapy in critically ill patients, shock, sepsis, and managing respiratory disease in patients.
In her spare time, Dr. Powell enjoys doing anything outside, which typically involves her two rescue dogs Loki and Maia. She also enjoys camping, snowboarding, and traveling with her husband.
