At the ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital Group we place high emphasis on Customer Service, and we would like to introduce Cheryl McDonald, our new Concierge.
Cheryl grew up in the rural suburbs of Tacoma, Washington where her family lived on a few acres. While her parents cared for animals, it was Cheryl who truly formed lasting friendships with them. She recalls her neighbor’s dogs- Penny the boxer, and Chuckles the Bassett Hound coming over to her house after school and on the weekends to spend the day with her. Cheryl moved to California for the weather, and has been with ACCESS since 2008.
Cheryl became a flight attendant twenty-seven years ago, and draws many parallels to her work in the Veterinary field, seeing a connection to the care and support she’s given to each client and patient over the years. During her career as a flight attendant, Cheryl began work as a Veterinary Technician. In 2006 she became a Registered Veterinary Technician after receiving both her Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees. She wanted to help sick and injured animals become well again, and that became the driving force behind starting her very own non-profit animal rescue.
Over the years, Cheryl has rescued over 150 dogs, cats, birds, and exotics off of the streets, from shelters, and some from homes where the pet needed a little more help than the loving owner could provide. Many animals—and people would have been lost without her. We are so fortunate to have Cheryl at ACCESS in her new position as Concierge!
Hello my name is Janine Hunter.
My dog, Apache, was seen by Dr. O’Neill (at ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital – San Fernando Valley) in April for pain symptoms on the right side of his face and eye.
Following his appointment with Dr. O’Neill, Apache was more comfortable, with less tilting the head to the left, and chewing on both sides.
In this little clip he has just woken-up and was happy to see me. (I had a hard time getting far enough away to get him in the picture – he’s my shadow!)
Thank you Dr. O’Neill.
Meet Chloe, one of our Client Care Coordinators, who joined ACCESS the Specialty Animal Hospital Group in 2013.
What we love about Chloe, who is based at ACCESS-Los Angeles, is that she brings a sunny and positive outlook to work each day, making sure Pet Owners, patients, and Veterinarians are well connected and cared for.
In addition to working with us, she is very involved in the animal rescue community, volunteering at adoption events, fostering abandoned or unwanted dogs and cats, and participating in rescues – which helps explain why she hopes to run her own animal rescue service in the future.
In her spare time Chloe loves riding her bike and visiting the dog park with her three Chihuahuas Abba, Tina, and Nala, where she is able to interact with others Pet Owners.
But there’s more to Chloe: Having proudly finished her education in Interior Design at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, she also has a gifted culinary side to her, as often proven by her ability to whip us delicious dishes for our in-house staff ‘cultural events and cooking competitions’.
If you are a Veterinary Receptionists or Client Care Coordinator, and attending one of our special events developed just for you, be sure to look out for Chloe and say hi.
She’d like that.
Kristina, our people oriented hospital administrator, is a native to the San Fernando Valley, with an acute insight into understanding and forecasting the needs of this community.
Her story of business success is based on her dedication to hard work and personal growth. She joined the veterinary community in 2000 and worked her way up from a veterinary receptionist to becoming the Hospital Administrator for Animal Emergency Care Center in 2006. When the center was acquired by ACCESS Specialty Hospital Group in 2012, Kristina was hired to stay on and continue her successful role as administrator, helping to transform a general emergency hospital into a mega-center offering an additional five veterinary specialties.
A devoted mother to three beautiful daughters, Madisyn, Montana, and Harlow, Kristina also has two loveable pugs, Murphy and Sasha.
Although all of our staff are fabulous, every month we choose a few who have gone just that little extra mile in demonstrating excellence in teamwork and efficiency in their jobs.
Here are three champions;
In order they are: Abel our MRI Technician and winner of January’s award. Alicia our Internal Medicine Lead Technician and winner of February’s award. And last but not least is Carol, our seasoned and rockstar receptionist and winner of the March award.
We love them all.
