Stefanie Owczarczak, DVM
ACCESS – SOUTH BAY
Dr. Stefanie Owczarczak (pronounced Owe-char-check) is a native of Buffalo, New York and she attended Rochester Institute of Technology for her undergraduate degree in Biology. While there, she was a member of the Varsity Swimming and Diving team and studied abroad in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
Shortly after graduating, she attended Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in Ithaca, NY. During her time at veterinary school, she traveled to Honduras to carry out wildlife relief work and was awarded a grant that allowed her the opportunity to help set up Turkey’s first sea turtle rehabilitation center located in Dalyan Beach. She fell in love with California while she was doing rotations at SeaWorld and San Diego Zoo during her clinical year.
Just after completing veterinary school, Dr. Owczarczak moved to California for her internship at Veterinary Medical and Surgical Group in Ventura, where she grew to love emergency medicine. Prior to joining ACCESS, Dr. Owczarczak worked at a small animal 24 hour general practice/emergency in North County, San Diego, for several years.
When Dr. Owczarczak is not at work, her passion is to run (and even sometimes race half/full marathons), search out the best craft beers, swim, and ski. She has a thirst for traveling and a long bucket list that continues to grow. She lives with her dog, Mia, who loves the beaches, trail running, and getting into anything edible.
