Erin Johnston, DVM

ACCESS – LOS ANGELES

Dr. Erin Johnston graduated from St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in January of 2006. She completed her clinical rotations at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Erin’s undergraduate work was marine science and zoology focused, and as a result of her interest she decided during her junior year of undergraduate study to apply to veterinary school, She worked three summers for a pinniped rehabilitation center in Southern California, and earned her B.S. in zoology from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA.

Erin graduated from veterinary school and headed to the east coast to work in small animal medicine, working in general practice her first year out. The following year she joined her first specialty animal hospital in the ER/Critical Care department and found her niche. Over the years she has particularly enjoyed the challenges of the critical trauma to the indiscretionary eater. Because Erin has experienced the loss of pet family members to older age illness and early life cancers, she enjoys providing the highest quality of medicine, always dedicated to patient care as if the patient were her own.

She has lived all over the US (Colorado, Virginia, Texas, Tennessee, Washington, New York), finding her way back to California the fall of 2014. As a southern California native, Erin’s heart is with the ocean. She has continued to contribute to pinniped rehabilitation and conservation as a relief veterinarian for the Marine Mammal Care Center in Sausalito.
Her passion is Harbor seals, but she most definitely enjoys the opportunity to provide clinical veterinary care to the other species that joins that center’s patient list each season, as well as support field teams for various research projects.

In her free time you may find Erin on her stand up paddleboard with her dog Poppy, a Terrier mix from the Monterey ASPCA. She also loves to alpine ski, camp and travel the coastline. Erin is an active member of Christian Veterinary Mission, and is looking forward to future opportunities for missionary work in the near future. She feels her service to the community is a huge honor, and promises to always be advocate for her patients and their people.
