Alex Barnes, DVM
ACCESS – LOS ANGELES
Dr. Alex Barnes was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. Growing up the son of a small animal veterinarian, his love for animals was sparked at an early age.
He completed his BS in Veterinary Science at the University of Arizona before moving to Fort Collins, Colorado, where he earned his DVM from Colorado State University in 2015.
During his time as a veterinary student, Alex discovered his passion for emergency and critical care, which inspired him to complete a small animal emergency and critical care focused internship at the Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center before joining the ACCESS team.
His professional interests include trauma, sepsis, and immune mediated diseases.
When he’s not in the ICU, Alex spends the vast majority of his time rock climbing. He has rock climbed on multiple continents and has worked at a professional route setter for indoor rock climbing gyms throughout the country.
